According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and other sources, Scott Cooper’s “Pale Blue Eye” was filmed around Steel City and other parts of Pennsylvania (via distract). One popular location Cooper and his team used was the Compass Inn Museum, where his historic blacksmith shop was converted into an 1830s tavern. PA disclosure. In fact, newly elected Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman and his wife Giselle were reportedly used as extras in at least one tavern scene.
“John has such a fantastic face, huge figure,” Christian Bale said in a November 2021 early preview (via Philadelphia Voice). “So I said to Scott, ‘He must be at the tavern’… This face is consistent with the 1830s.”
In addition to Compass Inn, some other popular Pennsylvania locations that have been used for Pale Blue Eye include McConnells Mill State Park, Westminster College in New Wilmington, Moraine State Park, Penguin Court in Westmoreland County, Old Economy Village in Beaver County. and Allegheny Cemetery in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh (via Uncovering PA).
