Tyler James Williams is battling Crohn’s disease

Tyler James Williams spoke about the health problems he faced before he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 20.

During an interview with Men’s healthwhich was published earlier this month, abbot elementary The 30-year-old star remembered her attempts to build muscle in the gym. Williams noted that he overdid it by hiring trainers, doing strength training and force-feeding on his own.


After a terrible stomach pain, the actor could not keep food in his body. “I was really pushing my body to the limit,” he explained, adding that he weighed 130 pounds at the time. “By December, it just collapsed. Everything is off.”

Williams was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease after visiting a gastroenterologist in New York City. His x-rays alerted medical professionals to an inflamed intestine clogged with scar tissue.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Crohn’s disease is a “type of inflammatory bowel disease” that causes swelling of tissue in the digestive tract. This can lead to “abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition.”


The disease, for which there is no known cure, can be “both painful and debilitating” and can sometimes lead to “life-threatening” complications. Crohn’s disease can be treated with a variety of treatments that can reduce its signs and symptoms. Treatment can also help patients achieve long-term remission and healing of inflammation.


For Williams, a visit to the doctor resulted in him being rushed into emergency surgery to remove six inches of his lower intestine. After the flare-up, the New York native revealed that he went into septic shock after his intestines failed to heal.

“The last thought I had was, ‘Maybe this is it. If so, then I’m not happy. I worked hard. I have done many things. I didn’t like any of this. This cannot be, ”he reminded the publication, noting that he had to undergo another operation.


After health concerns, the former child star spent several months on an IV system. Ultimately, Williams weighed 105 pounds and was unable to get up to walk.

“I needed to learn how to stop the drastic changes very quickly and learn to feel better about my body,” he elaborated. “It’s important for me and those like me to remember that longevity is a big part of the game. If you can’t [stay strong] and be healthy, it really doesn’t make sense.”

Everyone hates Chris alum told how his brother Tyrell Williams was also diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Since then, the siblings have shifted their focus to a healthier lifestyle that does not include alcohol, coffee, and red meat.

Tyler also noted that health concerns led him to seek more “purposeful” roles in his career, such as abbot elementaryGregory Eddy. “[He] wants to be in this position of power because he feels that this is what he needs to succeed, but then he discovers that this is not his life, ”he explained. “I thought, ‘Sounds like the same trip I had to go through.'”
