“I want to start by highlighting Megan Peet’s bravery,” the Los Angeles District Attorney said. George Gascon said Diversity in a statement on Friday, December 23, after the announcement of the verdict. “In your testimony, you showed incredible courage and vulnerability, despite repeated and grotesque attacks that you did not deserve. You have faced unfair and despicable controls that no woman should have to face, and you have been an inspiration to others in Los Angeles County and across the country. Women, especially black women, are afraid to report crimes like assault and sexual assault because they are too often not believed.”

Gascon continued: “This test, for the second time this month, has highlighted the many ways our society needs to improve the status of women. I would also like to thank the jury for their time and thoughtful deliberation, and our trial team for their relentless pursuit of the truth.”
