“I had never heard of this guy, and I would be the kind of person who would know about the most famous serial killer in America,” good nurse director Tobias Lindholm said of the real-life Charles Cullen, played by Eddie Redmayne in the Netflix film.
“I realized that this wasn’t necessarily a story about a serial killer but about a whole system that allowed him to do what he was doing, and then I knew we had a There’s a story that takes us back to the great thrillers of the ’70s. Joined by The Theory of Everything Oscar winner Redmayne, Lindholm was speaking with me today at KristenBellTattoos.com’s Contenders Film: LA3C event in downtown Los Angeles.
Also starring Jessica Chastain, good nurse Debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in September. A true crime feature based on the 2013 book by Charles Graeber then launched on Netflix on October 22. In the film, Chastain, who won the 2021 Oscar, portrays Amy Loughrin, the fellow nurse who was instrumental in ultimately securing Cullen’s arrest in 2008. good nurse, Loughren spoke extensively with both Chastain and Redmayne about their roles and what really came down to trying to impersonate Cullen.

In 2014, Stephen Hawking is no stranger to playing real people. The Theory of EverythingRedmayne explained how he got into his character without even meeting or talking to the now-imprisoned Cullen himself.
“Tobias and I had access to footage, psychic reports and the man who wrote the book, Charles Graber,” the actor said. “And, having played a few real people over the years, more and more I find it’s the insights of other artists that are helpful. You have to accept that it’s not a facsimile, it’s not a documentary.
