‘The Big Bang Theory’ Fans Have a Hard Time Adjusting to Melissa Rauch’s Normal Voice in Night Court

The Night Court reboot, based on the comedy that ran for nine seasons in the 1980s, marks Melissa Rauch’s first major project since The Big Bang Theory. Rauch plays Judge Abby Stone, daughter of Harry Stone (Harry Anderson), and runs the night shift at the Manhattan Criminal Court. She stars alongside original series star John Larroquette.

Night Judgment nostalgists and Rauch fans alike fueled the reboot’s January 17 premiere to impressive heights, and the sitcom garnered the biggest comedy premiere viewership since The Connors in 2018 (via Yahoo). However, some fans were a bit distracted by Rauch’s performance. “Enjoyed the new Night Court last night, just adjusting to Melissa Ranch’s non-Bernadette voice,” he tweeted. @jennakayreads along with a laughing emoji. Some users, for example @GabeReal909expressed a similar opinion. Others were still shocked to find that Bernadette Rauch’s voice was part of her performance. “God, I really thought Melissa Rauch sounded like Bernadette from [Big Bang Theory] lol,” wrote @TommieGirlsWurl.

With Night Court airing weekly on NBC, there will be plenty of opportunity for fans to adjust to Rauch’s lower tone. The actress only hopes that the new series will appeal to old and new fans of “Night Court”. “For those who love the original, there’s so much to enjoy,” she told Looper in an exclusive interview. “But then people who had never seen the show before could come in without any prior knowledge and enjoy it without knowing anything about what it once was.”
