Untimely bathroom break! Dodge Cat, Harry Styles and more stars had to rush back to the stage after using the restroom before their category was named at the awards ceremony.
The “Say So” singer made headlines at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in April 2022 when her co-writer SZA took the stage without Doji to accept the award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.
– You went to the bathroom for five minutes, are you serious? asked SZA, who also hobbled to the platform with difficulty on crutches.
Doja was out of breath when she finally said, “I’ve never peed so fast in my life.”
After recovering from nearly missing out on the win, the rapper got emotional as he mistook the trophy for “Miss Me More”. (Two women beat “I Get a Kick Out of You” Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga“Lonely” Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco“Butter” by BTS and “Higher Power” by Coldplay.)
“I really appreciate it. Thanks to everyone, my family, my team, I wouldn’t be here without you, and I wouldn’t be here without my fans,” she said. “And you know what, NWA, you are everything to me. You’re amazing, you’re the epitome of talent, you’re the lyricist, you’re everything.”
However, she is hardly the first star to go missing when their name was called. Back in 1998 Christine Lahti went missing when Robin Williams announced that she had won the Best Actress in a Drama Series award for her role in Chicago Hope at the Golden Globe.
— I was in the bathroom, Mom! she explained when she finally reached the podium, jokingly drying her hand with a towel.
Nearly two decades later, Lahti reflected on the point under discussion.
“It was the first thing that came to my mind that my mom was like, ‘What the hell were you doing in the bathroom? Couldn’t you have gone earlier?” the actress said in a special edition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globes in 2017. “Everyone was so embarrassed for me, maybe they could somehow understand.”

Lahti was in the bathroom when she received the Best Actress award for Chicago Hope at the 55th Golden Globe Awards.
“It gave me a good perspective — a healthy perspective,” the actress said during the 2017 Golden Globes special. “All of a sudden there was this great humor added to the whole evening, and not just nervousness and anxiety and the question “who will beat whom?”

Patrick Shumaker Critics’ Prize (2023)
When abbot elementary won Best Comedy at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards, Quinta Brunson shared during her acceptance speech that one of the show’s producers was not on stage as he needed to go to the bathroom.
“One of our producers is in the bathroom right now, so he misses it,” the actress joked as she accepted the Critics Choice Award 2023. “Patrick [Schumacker,] that’s what you get.”
Shumaker was able to take the stage at the last second.
