Richard Miller, the Industrial Light and Magic sculptor who helped create Princess Leia’s gold bikini costume. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi., is dead. He was 80 years old.
Miller’s close friend and colleague Fon H. Davis confirmed the news in an Instagram post.
“I was heartbroken to hear of the passing of my friend, colleague and incredibly talented sculptor, Richard Miller,” he captioned. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work, laugh and be grumpy with her. I really appreciate the picture that Mary Heath sent me last Christmas. That’s the smile I like to remember. . I still miss Grant so much today. We would have come together to remember Richard. Hugs to our friends today.”

About a year ago, Miller shared a Princess Leia bikini tidbit on Twitter, saying, “I sculpted a Princess Leia bikini in 1981. Return of the Jedi.. Fun fact: It was pretty uncomfortable on the carry so I glued leather to the interior so it could move around more freely.
Miller has a long list of credits for all the work he has done in Hollywood films throughout his career. His work was used in films like Willow (1988), Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), Physical warfare (1989), Back to the Future Part II (1989), Back to the Future Part III (1990), Back draft (1991), The Rocketeer (1991), the fork (1991) and Death becomes his. (1992).
His work in other films was prominent. The Flintstones (1994), Kid’s day out (1994), Mask (1994), Casper (1995), Congo (1995), Jumanji (1995), Mission Impossible (1996), Eggs (1997), Flubber (1997).
Miller returned. Star Wars universe when his statues were used in the three prequels of the saga. His credits also included films like Mummy (1999), Space Cowboys (2000) AI artificial intelligence (2001), Planet of the Monkeys (2001), Hulk (2003) and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003).
