SAG-AFTRA is surveying its members on how they feel about the industry’s Covid vaccination mandate, before the Covid protocol expires on January 31, along with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and Hollywood unions. Pursuant to a repeatedly extended agreement between
“Do you approve of employers requiring a CoVID-19 vaccination as a condition of access to a seat?” asks one of the questions. “If there are circumstances that mean production will not proceed in the absence of an employer vaccine mandate, do you support the employer enforcing such a mandate?” asks another.
Survey (Check it out here) also asks how familiar members are with SAG-AFTRA’s “development of COVID-19 safety protocols and policies” that have “created a safer workplace during the global pandemic.”
SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher asked for the survey. In the current issue of SAG-AFTRA Magazinehe wrote:
“I continue to fight on behalf of our members who feel discriminated against due to their unvaccinated or unvaccinated status for Covid, which is preventing them from working on major studio productions. By not being adequately considered for their religious or health exemptions, help continues!
“As a result of this longstanding policy, many actors have lost their representation, their medical benefits and their livelihoods. We want to take the pulse of the entire member body on this issue and more, so check out the national SAG-AFTRA survey, and Answer all questions to help our national board best represent you.”
The survey also includes questions on how members feel about the importance of various services, including contract ex*cution and negotiation. communication; Guild Safety Hotline; processing residuals, and managing new job opportunities, as well as familiarizing them with SAG-AFTRA’s commitment to promoting diversity and equity; Sustainability, and prevention and combating s*xual harassment.
