Sade Adu (known simply as Sade), Alanis Morrisette’s longtime collaborator Glenn Ballard, Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan, Electric Light Orchestra founder Jeff Lynne, New Jack Swing pioneer Teddy Riley, and Taylor Swift’s collaborator Liz Rose will join the latest. Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization’s 52nd annual induction and awards gala.
The event is being held on Thursday, June 15 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Additional special honors will be announced soon.
The Hall announced the latest inductees today, with chairman Neil Rodgers saying in a statement, “The music industry wouldn’t exist without the songwriters who are the first to deliver great songs. No music, no concert business, no merchandise. . . nothing, it all starts with the song and the songwriter. The 2023 slate of inductees, he added, “so we’re very proud that We continue to recognize some of the most culturally significant songwriters of all time, and that the 2023 slate “represents not only iconic songs, but also diversity and unity across genres, ethnicities, and races.” There are genres, songwriters who have enriched our lives and, in their time, literally changed the music and the lives of billions of listeners around the world.”
