Rocky Balboa’s son, Rocky Jr., is played by Milo Ventimiglia. The actor had a pretty solid career thanks to his roles in Gilmore Girls, Heroes and “This is us” on TV. In the movie world, he’s not so lucky, and if we had to bet on which movie he’d like to forget, it would be a 2005 horror movie. “Damn.” Insert a pun here.
In the film, he plays Bo, a school bully who bullies a child named Jimmy, who turns out to have supernatural powers. He and his sister Ellie are cursed by a werewolf after rescuing a woman from a car accident and soon begin to exhibit the effects of lycanthropy themselves. Now they must hunt down the woman and kill her if they want to avoid becoming nightmarish creatures for the rest of their lives.
While the film has a strong pedigree — written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven — the same team behind the Scream franchise and starring Christina Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg is a huge misfire. Ridled with bad clichés and plot twists you’ll see from a mile away, it can’t decide if it wants to be a dark slasher or tongue-in-cheek comedy, and ultimately fails on both counts. But perhaps it wasn’t always like that. In 2018, the hashtag movement began on Twitter, #ReleaseTheCravenCutwhich suggests that the director’s original cut of the film isn’t all that bad.
