To bring clarity to Wonder Woman 3 and Rogue Squadron, Patty Jenkins took on Twitter December 13, 2022. There, she released a lengthy statement explaining what happened to each of them. Regarding the third part of Wonder Woman, she said, “I never left. I was open to any questions asked of me. I realized that at this time there was nothing I could do to move forward.” This refutes previous claims that creative differences led to her departure. She goes on to thank Wonder Woman fans and cite her adoration for the likes of Linda Carter and Gal Gadot.
As for Rogue Squadron, Jenkins revealed that the spin-off is not canned, as previous reports suggested. She says she originally left to work on Wonder Woman 3, though the door was open for her to return to Rogue Squadron when the time was right. This ultimately led to her signing a new contract with Lucasfilm and continuing to develop the film. “I don’t know if it will happen or not. We never do that until the development process is complete, but I’m looking forward to the future of it,” Jenkins concluded, apparently noting that Rogue Squadron isn’t necessarily a guarantee. .
While these are far from positive updates for Wonder Woman 3 and Rogue Squadron, they are nonetheless updates from one of the few reliable sources. Let’s hope each of these projects finds its footing sooner or later, perhaps with Patty Jenkins at the helm.
