The 94th Academy Awards are expected to take place on March 1, 2022, and the deadline for submissions for the Best International Feature Film Oscar has passed. A shortlist of 15 finalists is to be unveiled on December 21, out of which five candidates will be announced. Of the 93 films submitted on 8 February, 27 are from Asia. Films produced in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Iran have won the award – on two occasions – alone in the 21st century, while last year Hong Kong only saw a third score.
