The guitarist confirmed to me yesterday that the forthcoming High Flying Birds album, Council Skies, is ready and the new single Easy Now is out today before the LP in June.

The single, which premiered on this morning’s Radio 2 show, is accompanied by a striking promo filmed on a north London estate.
While Noel looks usually relaxed in his signature sunglasses, Millie is floating in the sky above cars and passers-by.
The album pays homage to Noel’s working-class Manchester roots.
He said, “It goes back to the beginning. I dream, look at the sky and think about what life can be.
“That is as true for me now as it was in the early 90s. Growing up in poverty and unemployment, music took me out of it.”
Recorded at Noel’s new North London studio, which he kindly showed me last summer, the album will be released on June 2, followed by a UK tour that will allow Noel to get back to what he does best after a turbulent period in his life.
Last weekend, I broke the sad news that he and his wife, Sarah McDonald, are divorcing after 22 years of marriage. During filming, Noel was not wearing a wedding ring.
The unexpected breakup also sparked a reaction from estranged brother and Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, who posted a series of cryptic messages on social media, including a link to The Hollies classic He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.
Insiders have speculated that Noel’s break could mean an Oasis reunion. But it looks like Noel will have a lot of work to do this year at least.

Big C Andy: I will live
DURAN DURAN guitarist Andy Taylor has said that after being diagnosed with cancer, he is determined to live life to the fullest.
The musician was told that last year he had an incurable form of the disease.
Yesterday Andy said in an interview with Channel Five: “I’m going to live life. There are several new treatments that can help me.”
Speaking about how he plunged into work after being diagnosed, Andy added: “I recorded three albums, I went on tour with my friends, REEF, and played a few shows.
“I often tell people that every minute is like an hour, every day is like a week. You really want to get the most out of life.”

GEORGE’S FAMILY NOT PART OF THE BIOPICK
The George Michael estate denies any involvement in a biopic about the late singer, which is believed to be in development.
It was revealed over the weekend that a film is in development that will see Theo James, the White Lotus heartthrob, as a candidate for the role of Wham! superstar who died in 2016.

Insiders claimed the project had a budget of £85 million and was nearing completion.
But yesterday, George Michael Entertainment reported: “For all of George’s lovers, fans and lovers of his music, an article has been published that George Michael’s family has supported a so-called biopic about his life.
“On behalf of George’s family and GME, we want to make it clear that there is no truth to this story, we know nothing about this project and will not support it in any way.”

The legendary director of Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET, among countless other blockbusters, told the SmartLess podcast: “I told the cast before we started filming that I got all my emotions when I was writing the script with Tony Kushner. . .
“I thought I got over the hardest part of telling this story by telling this story on paper.
“Then, on the first day of filming, Michelle Williams and Paul Dano, who play Bert and Mitzi, or my parents, came out.

HER acting experience is about as extensive as mine, so it’s no wonder Cheryl Tweedy lends a helping hand ahead of her stage debut on the West End show 2:22 Ghost Story.
Insiders told me that the former lead singer of Girls Aloud worked with a vocal and breathing coach.

A source said: “Cheryl has been taking classes to help her develop vocal and breathing stamina, flexibility and help her control her nerves.
“She is taught how to connect with her breath so that the range, volume and pitch of her voice is free of tension.”
Luckily for viewers, Cheryl won’t be singing in the production.
Last year, those behind the scenes revealed that Cheryl was earning £750,000 from shows that ended in April. This is the largest amount of money she has made from anything other than selling herbal pills online in years.
Despite Cheryl’s lack of experience in acting, her premiere is approaching a full house. Last night’s show at London’s Lyric Theater on January 21st had just 45 seats left.
