The “Everybody” singers performed at Madison Square Garden as part of an all-star holiday line-up. Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Charlie Puth, Demi Lovato and many others took to the stage. While MSG fans were reportedly welcomed, the group was kept off the CW live amid news that Carter, 42, was being sued for allegedly raping an underage girl in 2001.
This is the second time BSB has lost screen time due to the allegations. Carter and his bandmates Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell as well as Howie Dorough — preparing for the holiday edition of the Backstreet Boys. Variety has confirmed that ABC will no longer air the December 14 program, which has already been filmed. They were due to perform tracks from their Christmas album and welcomed guest stars including Meghan Trainor and Seth Rogen.
Shannon Root is suing 42-year-old Carter for s*xual battery and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, alleging he exposed himself to her and instructed her to perform “under duress” oral s*x on him.
Ruth, 39, claims she was forcibly raped by a boy bender after a February 2001 concert in Tacoma, Washington. Ruth, who has autism and cerebral palsy, claimed that Carter invited her to join him on his tour bus after she waited in line for an autograph after a concert.
Then the 17-year-old girl rode in a tourist bus, where the musician offered her a drink. Ruth accepted the drink and sipped it “not to be rude,” she said in her court document, and Carter allegedly instructed her to perform oral s*x. Ruth noted that she was a virgin before they met, and after that she tested positive for a s*xually transmitted disease.

“This statement about an incident that allegedly took place over 20 years ago is not only legally unfounded, but completely untrue,” Michael HoltzCarter’s lawyer said Us at that time. “Unfortunately, for several years now, Ms. Ruth has been manipulated into making false accusations against Nick, and these accusations have changed repeatedly and significantly over time.”
The statement concludes: “No one should be deceived by a press stunt organized by an opportunistic lawyer – there is nothing in this statement that we have no doubt that the courts will quickly understand.”
