It’s no surprise that an incredible amount of work goes into refining the design of every hero and villain before they hit the screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Namor and Ironheart are no exception. Both characters lived on Earth-616 in the comics, with Namor being one of the original Marvel characters and Riri’s introduction in 2016. Needless to say, both characters had a variety of different designs that Marvel Studios could base their look on. .
Thanks to some recently released concept art, fans can take a good look at some of their early designs for their debuts in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Artist’s First Look at Ironheart’s Costume @adigranov on Instagram. Their illustrations, which the studio did not use in the final product, gave Riri a sleeker, more Iron Man-like design for her Wakanda-built suit. Their concept art is more reminiscent of Ironheart. Mark III armor from the comics. Instead, Marvel Studios decided to use designs from @philjdsaunders that fans saw in the film. A slightly bulkier design gives Riri a large jetpack on his back.
Namor’s concept art shows that Marvel Studios considered many options for the character’s new Mesoamerican origin. Created by the artist @anthony_francisco_art, the design includes three warrior outfits similar to the one Tenoch Huerta wears onscreen. While the studio chose a color scheme similar to Namor’s classic comic book costume, concept art includes a blue, brown, and dyed design. Francisco also drew a costume similar to the character’s. modern comic outfit but with emerald accents. It will be interesting to see if Marvel Studios decides to use any of these concept drawings for any character’s future looks.
