But Christmas can also be a time of strife.

Spending time with extended family can lead to many problems and conflicts.

And recently there has been a heated debate about Christmas.

So where do you stand on this issue?

We’ve all done it.

The ‘Secret Santa’ concept usually involves a group of people – work colleagues or friends – putting their names into a hat, and picking one at random.

But just to refresh your memory…

Once you’ve picked a name out of the hat, you then have to buy that specific person a gift, while never revealing who received the gift.

You sometimes get a list of hints.

To make it easy for someone to shop for what you want. Never In general, shopping for the obvious.

There are other laws as well.

So people don’t go too Crazy about costs, usually budgeted between $15-$20 per present.

But, there is a flip side.

Some have claimed that the whole thing is too stressful.

And some millennials are even suffering as a result of their workplace ‘Secret Santa’.

The research, commissioned by British job hunting website Jobsite, found that young workers are often spending more than they can afford on gifts for their colleagues.

Some millennials report that they make decisions based on how much they spend on their gifts.

And they resort to spending what they can’t afford so as not to come across as “stingy”.

Twenty-six percent of young workers find themselves dipping into their savings or overdrafts to contribute to gift exchanges, the report found.

And only a quarter of employees aged 23 to 38 said they felt angry at the person who organized the ‘Secret Santa’ because their financial situation was not considered.

Another thirty-five percent of millennials reported that they would like to see the ‘Secret Santa’ tradition in the workplace banned entirely.

Dr Ashley Weinberg of the University of Salford suggests that businesses can reduce employee anxiety by introducing spending limits.

“I think when you give someone a gift, there’s a whole range of human emotions, from humiliation,” she explained. “It’s important to us how others feel about our behavior and how it comes across.”

“The spirit of giving – especially in the seasonal time of gift exchange through ‘Secret Santa’ – is something we hope can be expressed in many ways and is worth remembering. that where financial support is involved, not all partners have the same disposable income.”

“I think organizations can play a role in just saying look, here are some healthy parameters, don’t feel like you need to give X amount – maybe you don’t need to give at all,” he said. explained.

“I think the signal from higher up in the organization can be really powerful enough to relieve the pressure.”
