Meghan Markle’s Diary Entries About First Pregnancy: Details

Delighted with your baby! Meghan Markle opened up about her first pregnancy before welcoming son Archie with Prince Harry in 2019.

“We started keeping a diary as soon as we found out we were pregnant,” said the former Suits 41-year-old actress, recalled in Episode 4 Harry and Meganwhich aired on Thursday, December 15. “It was just, ‘Dear baby, we’re so glad to meet you one day,’ and [we’d] take small pictures and put them in a magazine.”

Meghan and Harry, 38, recalled adding entries to their diary whenever something important happened during their pregnancy, including the couple’s public announcement that they were expecting their first child.

In the fourth episode of the Netflix documentary series, the Duke of Suss*x explained that the couple “had” to reveal Meghan’s pregnancy during their Australian tour in October 2018 because her bump could no longer be hidden.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Suss*x are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Suss*x is expecting a baby in spring 2019,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

As soon as the news broke, the Archetypes podcast host and her husband arrived at Down Under for their first international royal tour. “Looking back at it now, [I’m] amazed we were able to do what we did,” Harry mused in the docu-series when Meghan chimed in: “Well, [it was] also even harder when I was pregnant.”

In May 2019, Meghan and Harry welcomed their first child, son Archie. Bench the author did not take part in a typical photo session with a newborn on the steps of the hospital for safety reasons, but the public did not like the violation of tradition.

“I said, ‘OK, we can do a photo shoot in front of the Portland hospital.’ As well as [the palace] said, “That’s impossible. We couldn’t barricade those streets and that would have posed a threat to the entrance to the emergency room, because that’s where you would need to take this photo,” Meghan recalled in the docu-series. “We said, ‘Okay, what kind of hybrid? Can we give them more time at the castle? And everyone, in turn, was like, “Yes. Yes fine. Oh yeah.’ Not once has anyone said, “Absolutely not.”

Meanwhile, Harry told the cameras, “The amount of abuse we’ve received, especially [Meghan]but both of us, because we didn’t want to serve our baby on a silver platter, were incredible.”

A year after Archie’s arrival, the couple announced they were relinquishing their senior duties as working royals. They moved to the United States in 2020 and settled in Montecito, California. In February 2021, Harry and Meghan announced that they were expecting another bundle of joy after the former actress suffered a m*scarriage. In June 2021, their daughter Lilibet was born.
