Marvin Humes replaced as ‘Dancing on Ice’ star in huge radio show shake-up

HE has already been crowned king of ice, and now former Dancing on Ice champion Sonny Jay is taking over the air.

As part of a massive radio reshuffle, 29-year-old Sonny was introduced as the new host of the Capital Late Show, replacing current host Marvin Humes.

Sonny, who has been co-host of Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast since 2018, will take over the reins from January 3, 2023.

Meanwhile, Marvin, 37, who has been with Capital for the past ten years and has hosted the Late Show since 2016, will move on to a yet-to-be-announced project on radio station Global.

Sonny broke the big news on the Capital Breakfast show where Roman and the crew wished him all the best in the world.


The star, who will host the show, which will air Monday through Thursday from 10 pm to 01 am, said, “I am incredibly excited to be the new host of the legendary Capital Late Show.

“I love Capital and our incredible family of listeners and so being able to perform and host my own weekday show is a really special moment for me.

“I had a great time at Capital Breakfast and it was an honor to work with my best friends every day.


However, Sonny joked that there is one thing he doesn’t mind saying goodbye to when he takes on a new challenge.

He joked, “I can’t say I’m going to miss the alarm at 4am, bed time!”

Former JLS star Marvin, who is married to singer turned host Rochelle Humes, also said he was sad to say goodbye to the show, which he has hosted since 2016.

He said, “What a trip to Capital it was! It was one of the most amazing perks of my life, but ten years later, it’s time for a new chapter in 2023 at Global.


“I am thrilled to hand over the reins of The Capital Late Show to my buddy Sonny Jay.

“He is the nicest guy, an absolute legend and a very talented TV presenter. Congratulations Sonny, you got it!”

While Roman, 29, was also very eager to congratulate his friend on his new role.

He said, “I’m so proud of you, Sonny. You were not only an important part of this team, you are also one of my best friends and sharing the studio with you every morning was an absolute blast.

“On behalf of everyone at Capital Breakfast and everyone who listens to the show, I want to thank you for making us smile every morning.”

This came after Sonny won over an army of fans when he won ITV’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ in 2021.

Sonny and his professional partner Angela Egan wowed audiences with their performances week after week and eventually beat Coronation Street runner-up Faye Brooks.
