Steve Martin and Martin Short return Saturday Night Live to co-host the NBC sketch show. The comedy duo have fronted the late-night program on several occasions, but it was Martin who has hosted 16 times so far.
The pair were self-deprecating and at one point gave a brief punchline comparing themselves to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, saying they were like them because “nobody’s rooting for us but you watch anyway.” Will tune in.”
Short then joked about the cast loving Martin, calling him a “hole entertainer” behind his back.
“Sweet,” Martin said before briefly explaining, “Well, I added the word fun.”
Martin and Short then prepared compliments for each other, roasting each other with dings and swipes in the process that made the audience laugh out loud.
“So Marty, I dedicate this eulogy to you,” Martin began. “Wow, not much of a turnout. Marty didn’t want to have a funeral – too late. But I’ll always be haunted by Marty’s last words, ‘Tesla autopilot engaged!’
Short then added, “I could say a lot of good things about Steve Martin but it’s hardly the time or the place… I know Steve’s looking down on us because he despised everybody. saw.”
“Now that Marty’s gone, who am I going to work with?” said Martin, after more taunting at each other.
That when Just killing in the building Co-star Selena Gomez crashes the monologue and says, “What about me?” Gomez entered the scene and hugged Martin as the audience erupted in cheers.
