Lisa Marie Presley cause of death: Presley dies at age 54 after cardiac arrest

The singer died just hours after a housekeeper found her unconscious at her home on Thursday local time.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the terrible news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” her mother Priscilla Presley confirmed in a statement to People Journal.

“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this deep loss. Thanks for the love and prayers. There will be no further comment at this time.”

Presley was taken to West Hills Hospital in Southern California on Thursday after emergency services answered a call that she was found unconscious in her bedroom.

Her ex-husband Danny Keogh, with whom she lives, performed CPR until paramedics arrived at her home in Calabasas. Medical officials said at the time that Presley had been “completely arrested”. TMZ.

The publication reported that Presley was injected with adrenaline at the scene to help her regain her pulse. She was then taken to the hospital, where she was put on life support.

Page six reported that Presley was “coded several times” in the hospital and her heart stopped repeatedly again.

Her condition before her death was “critical,” the publication added.

The official cause of death will be determined later.

Shortly after Lisa Marie’s cardiac arrest became known, her mother, 77-year-old Priscilla Presley, released a statement to People magazine asking for privacy.

“My beloved daughter Lisa-Maria was urgently taken to the hospital. She is now receiving better care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel prayers from all over the world and ask for privacy at this time,” she added.

Priscilla was later seen arriving at the hospital.

Presley staggers at the Golden Globes

Two days earlier, Lisa Marie and Priscilla attended the Golden Globe Awards together in Los Angeles to support the Baz Luhrmann campaign. Elvis biopic starring Golden Globe winner Austin Butler as the king of rock and roll.

In the red carpet video, Presley was unsteady on her feet during the interview.

The footage shows Presley turning to her friend Jerry Schilling, 80, and saying “I’m going to grab your hand” as she was asked questions before the event. Additional host Billy Bush.

She seemed to speak slowly and slurred as she answered questions about Butler’s portrayal of her father.

The singer said she adores Butler and was “stunned” by his performance, for which he won the Best Actor in a Drama Film award at the event.

“I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw this,” she recalled.

“It took me about five days to process it because it was so incredible, so accurate and so authentic.”

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Presley is the only child of Priscilla and Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 at the age of 42 from a heart attack likely caused by prescription pill addiction.

Like her father, Presley was also a musician. Presley released three albums during her career: To whom It May Concern (2003) What now (2005) and Storm and Grace (2012).

Presley inherited her father’s $100 million fortune at age 25, but she claimed in 2018 that her former business manager, Barry Siegel, squandered her entire stake, cutting it down to $14,000.

Her mother Priscilla was reportedly forced to sell her Los Angeles mansion in 2019 to help her daughter with her growing debts.

Lisa Marie remained the owner of Graceland, Elvis’ famous Memphis estate, until her death.

The mother of four has been married four times to musician Danny Keogh, singer Michael Jackson, actor Nicolas Cage and music producer Michael Lockwood.

She is survived by 33-year-old daughter Riley Keough and 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper, whom she shared with Lockwood.

In 2020, her only son with Danny Keough, Benjamin Keough, committed suicide.

In a statement released at the time, Lisa Marie said she was “not devastated.”

“She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11 year old twins and eldest daughter Riley.” statement read. “She adored this boy. He was the love of her life.”
