Lewis Capaldi fans will be in for a treat this morning as he finally releases another single from his highly anticipated second album.
The Scotsman’s comeback single “Forget Me” has been high on the charts for months – and catapults him back to the top of the pop hierarchy.
Pointless is the second single from the upcoming album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.
And Lewis admits he stole the ballad’s soulful lyrics from buddy Ed Sheeran, who came up with the line in a previous songwriting session.
Along with collaborators Steve Mack and Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid, Lewis was working on another track when the idea came up to finish off Ed’s intro.
Lewis explained, “Ed had these lyrics: ‘I bring her coffee in the morning, she brings me inner peace.’ And almost every second line in this debut just thundered.

Having listened to an early version of the track before its release, I can confirm that it is not wrong.
The haunting opening lyrics and chords transition into a more anthemic chorus that lingers long after you’ve heard it, meaning the song is guaranteed to dominate the airwaves in the coming weeks.
The opening teaser has already garnered millions of views online as fans eagerly await the follow-up to his 2019 debut compilation, Divinely Uninspired to Hell, which has sold a truly astounding 10 million copies.
And despite the upbeat opening track Forget Me, Lewis insists he has no plans to radically change his style a second time.
“I don’t want to create a new sound for myself or reinvent myself,” he added.
“The songs I want to write are emotional songs, about love or loss.”
The new album is due for release next May and much of it was recorded at Lewis’ own home using only his laptop and a simple microphone setup.
This helped him relax.
He explained, “I felt like I sounded better because I just relaxed in my own hook.
“Also, a lot of this recording was done with most of the people I worked with on the first album – at least one of them is on almost every song.”
It was already a meteoric comeback for Lewis, who soared straight to the top of the singles chart in September and racked up 100 million streams worldwide in a matter of days.
He also sold out his upcoming 2023 UK tour in seconds as he admits he is now desperate to get back on tour. He adds: “I’m ready. So are the songs.”
Lewis calls it his “last sad beat”. It’s hard not to agree.
Modern Jordan novel
JADE TRILWALL’s boyfriend Jordan Stevens is a big fan of Microsoft – he won her over with his PowerPoint presentation.
The former Rizzle Kicks vocalist revealed how he sold himself to the Little Mix star by telling her about his best qualities.
He said, “We have a mutual friend and I saw that she was single, so I said to a friend, ‘Can you hand me over to Jade?’
“He took a screenshot of this text and just sent it to her. She then DMed me, “OK, what are you talking about?”
“I thought, ‘I have a PowerPoint presentation.’ I listed everything I thought was good about me and sent it to her.
“Things like ‘my dog loves me’ and ‘I have over five friends and I could have a lot more if I wanted to.’
He tells on today’s episode of Big Narsty on Channel 4 at 11:05 pm, “I love her so much, I think she is an incredible woman.
“I was not raised in marriage as something I am looking for, but I would be open to it. I’m open to celebrating love.”
Taylor on Iggy’s record
IGGY POP talks about working with the late Foo Fighters member Taylor Hawkins.
The drummer, who died on tour in March, is playing on Iggy’s new album, Every Loser, which comes out next month.
In an interview with NME, Iggy said, “Taylor came in with incredible style. I’m very lucky to have this color on the record.
“I was very sad and shocked to hear about him.
“He had a great career, he did what he wanted, and by the looks of it, a good life.
“He’s causing a storm on these tracks and you can really hear it.”
GUNS N’ ROSES will be back next summer headlining BST Hyde Park in London on Friday 30 June.
A group of Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Dizzy Reid, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Melissa Reese will perform at the event’s tenth anniversary.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday next week.
Crazy Amanda and Ash Crack
I’m not quite in the Christmas spirit yet, but these photos definitely bring me holiday joy.
Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts enlisted the support of their Heart radio show by wearing these s*xy Nutcracker costumes.
But their co-host Jamie Theakston must have wondered if his outfit was real, as he was dressed up like a Christmas tree – complete with shoe gifts.
The trio got into the holiday spirit by kicking off the countdown to December 25 on their show yesterday.
The big day is just over three weeks away, but I have no doubt that this company still has plenty of extravagant costumes to wear before Santa Claus arrives.
AJ aims to box smart for the big punch. . . in charts?
ANTHONY JOSHUA interacted with many music stars at the Mobo Awards.
Now the boxing champion thinks he has what it takes to perform in front of the microphone.
When asked backstage at Wednesday’s event if he could take up music, he said, “That’s a great idea.”
He went on to admit that he can’t sing, but believes he could make some good tunes because, “I can rap.”
Asked if he would actually do it, he added, “I’d love to.”
Artists like Tiny Tempah, Becky Hill and Joel Corry follow AJ on Instagram, so he has a lot of friends who can help him.
And in Mobos he made many more friends who could help him in the studio.
The superstar was the most popular person in the room at the OVO Wembley Arena party in London.
A source said, “AJ really was the most wanted person there, as well as the nicest. He must have taken hundreds of selfies because everyone desperately wanted to be photographed with him.
“He loved it. He was in a very good mood and spent a lot of time interacting with fans and fans.”
CLIFFHANGER RACE FOR #1
SIR CLIFF RICHARD may regret buying Stormzy’s new album, as it may have contributed to his No. 1 spot.
The veteran has been battling the grime rapper all week in a race to top today’s charts, and he shared this photo with Stormzy’s This Is What I Mean after saying on TV that he had no idea who he was.
On Tuesday, I revealed that Stormzy was leading by 3,000 copies, although they dropped to 575 sales on Wednesday.

It took the lead again last night, beating “Christmas With Cliff” by 2,308 copies.
Like Cliff said, may the best man win.
