The guys are back! Kenan Thompson reunited with a childhood colleague Kel Mitchell on Saturday, December 3rd, in Saturday night life – all thanks to the host Keke Palmer.
“Kenan Thompson Legend Dude” scream queens The 29-year-old alum shared a pre-recorded sketch on Saturday, sharing footage of her meeting the 44-year-old for the first time. After Palmer, who announced during her monologue that she was expecting her first child, touted Thompson’s impressive acting record, she pitched the idea for a future “project”.
“Absolutely everything that says the name Keke Palmer, I’m there,” mighty ducks the actor replied. “No questions were asked!”
Then Palmer put forward her idea for a dramatic rethinking Kenan and Kel, a 1996 series of Thompson improvisations with Mitchell, now 44. In a project called “Kenan and Kelly” Thompson repeated the image of his childhood, and Palmer played the role of Mitchell. The sketch also featured a fictional behind-the-scenes documentary in which Kenan Alum noted that he was unimpressed by the narrative.
“I should have asked more questions,” Thompson joked in a confession scene. “I thought it would Jordan Peel– production of a streaming series. I wouldn’t say yes Kenan and Kel but now it’s just Kelly. … Keke was aiming for an Emmy, so she wanted it to have gritty, dramatic moments. And I thought, “That won’t work.” And I was right!
Despite Thompson’s disappointment in nope The idea of a star, he was surprised when Mitchell showed up unexpectedly on a fictional film set. “Hello everyone! Oh, I missed you,” Dancing with the Stars alum gushed in the clip, rushing to hug an orange soda vending machine. “Oh, who likes orange soda? Cal loves orange soda! Oh, sweet baby!”
Thompson and Mitchell rose to fame in the early 1990s as actors on Nickelodeon. All this. Their breakout roles in sketch comedy brought them their own Kenan and Kel spin-off that ran from 1996 to 2000. Kenan and Kel in particular, the sketch of the couple “Good Burger”, which was made into a full-length film of the same name. (Mitchell’s character has often expressed his love for orange soda in a series of sketches and film adaptations.)
Though the two comics have come a long way since All this as well as good burgerthey remained close friends.
“Shooting Kenan Saturday night life in New York, but he texts me every time after I’m done. He’s like, “Hey, you did so well,” Mitchell said exclusively. Us weekly in October 2019 competitions on DVTS. “This is my boy. This is family.”
Mitchell’s surprise cameo on Saturday was the “highlight” of Palmer’s life, which she noted via Instagram Story after the episode concluded.
“The highlight of my life. You guys have been such an influence in so many ways, especially in comedy.” Go! Later that night, the actress posted on social media. “A lot of what I think is good, funny or want to BE is because of BOTH of you! The fact that Kenan and Kel are from Illinois just made it all the more real for me as a countryman from Illinois, haha.”
She added, “And the fact that Kel’s birthday [sic] just a day before [mine] makes me feel like it just had to be. But seriously. I’m so grateful to be part of this reunion, @kenanthompson @iamkelmitchell.”
