KATHIE Price has hit back at violent internet trolls who have shamed her for sharing a bed with her grown son Harvey.
Over Christmas, the 44-year-old shared a video on Instagram of herself hugging a 20-year-old who has Prader-Willi syndrome, autism and is blind.
But, responding to the backlash during an interview with Women’s radio station Cathy explained yesterday that Harvey’s condition is very different from if it was one of her other children.
She said, “Harvey is a big kid. In college, they are not allowed to hug and touch him or anything. When he’s here, he just wants to hold my hand, stroke my hair, kiss me. whoever speaks, let them think what they want.
In the hour-long conversation, Katie also revealed that Harvey has a girlfriend at an independent college where he spends most of his time.
Reflecting on the social challenges faced by people with autism, she recalled how she warmly greeted Harvey’s girlfriend while visiting school, only to receive a short “hello” in return before the girl continued on her way.
She said: “They are not sociable. They are straight forward and straight forward and it just makes me laugh.”
When Harvey returned home for the Christmas break, 44-year-old reality TV star Katie told her followers that he wanted to sleep with his mom for “cuddles.”
“Harvey is already at home and laying in my bed like a baby who wants to cuddle,” she said.
The Celebrity Big Brother winner also shared a clip of him hiding next to her.
However, fans told the mom-of-five that the videos were “inappropriate”.
One fan exploded: “Totally inappropriate for his age, regardless of his needs.”
Another said, “Something is wrong here, I don’t think it’s appropriate.”
“Despite his disability, you should not do this,” said a third.
But some fans thought it was just a cute moment between a mother and her child.
“How much he loves his mommy, forever our babes xx,” said one.
Another replied, “Once they grow up, they will forever be your little children.”
While the third one said “Welcome home harvest, I hope you get a lot of frog gifts, mom hugs and trains.”
Harvey was born with ADHD, autism, a genetic disorder, Prader-Willi syndrome, and septo-optic dysplasia that causes blindness.
His father, former footballer Dwight Yorke, does not play an active role in his son’s life.
Now that Harvey is an adult, Kathy is trying to give her first child a more independent life.
He lives away from home in an apartment building where he attends college.
In her latest interview, Katy said that during the holiday, Harvey broke an antique mirror, a TV and ruined two mattresses.
