Katie Holmes has just kicked off a buzz in the fashion world, all in one experimental red carpet look that instantly made everyone nostalgic. On December 9th, actors and performers from all over the world came in their best, eye-catching holiday ensembles to the red carpet of this year’s iHeartRadio Z100 Jingle Ball.
Almost every minute we saw something amazing, like Brooke Shields and her daughters pairing outfits with Demi Lovato’s insanely edgy look – and, of course, Holmes’ early 2000s-inspired look.
To say the internet is divided over this cheeky look is an understatement, and if you’re wondering what the hell the internet is talking about, check out the photos below:
For Jingle Ball iHeartRadio Z100 dawson’s bay The alum arrived in a navy blue Tove mini dress over flared jeans, which she paired with black sneakers, a black ring, and completely flowing wavy locks. At night, Holmes relied heavily on the old trend of layering clothes that was at its peak in the early 2000s (we all remember Ashley Tisdale’s iconic red carpet photos!)
Now people went crazy when they realized that it was recently, and not in 2000, with one Twitter user asks “Is this from 2022 or 2002?” Another user wrote“I don’t actually have a witty tweet for this, I’m just really concerned. Like it CANNOT BE the same Katie Holmes who served in a Khaite knit sweater and bralette just two summers ago…”
While there are thousands of people fleeing in horror at the prospect of a return to this trend, just as many are turning it down for Holmes for bringing back this aesthetic. One twitter user said: “Pay tribute to Katie Holmes for embodying the ’00s/2000 aesthetic.”
Another user excitedly added: “Fashion 2000, let’s go!”
Besides being known for her acting career, people adore Holmes for her daring sense of style, which she has spoken about in recent years. And while a lot of people have trouble with this look, she has said time and time again that she loves fashion when she has to experiment.
She previously told El, “I try a lot of different things. I am not afraid of certain views. [But] I really believe that if you don’t feel comfortable, don’t do it. You have to wear what you’re comfortable in and be confident and know that what you like is enough and you look great and own it.”
