Prince William and Kate Middleton have finally arrived in the US for the first time since 2014. The Duke and Duchess of Wales showed a united front as they arrived at Boston’s Logan International Airport in matching navy suits.
The royals are in Boston for the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards, which recognize five people each year for their contributions to the environmental movement. The two looked monochrome, professional as they stepped off the plane. Kate’s ensemble consisted of a fitted blazer with structured details on the shoulders, a simple yet chic black turtleneck, and a navy blue leather belt with matching suede pumps.

She opted for the bare minimum that still made a statement: simple sapphire and diamond earrings and an engagement ring that once belonged to Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana.

Prince William looked dapper as always in a navy blue suit, starched white shirt and bright blue tie with white polka dots. Their matching modern looks seem to play into the hands of the couple’s ongoing goal of changing public opinion about the monarchy and truly bringing the royal family into the 21st century.

The royal couple’s trip marks not only their first visit to the States in eight years, but also their first trip abroad since the d*ath of Queen Elizabeth II. As soon as the royal couple landed, Prince William made a statement about his late grandmother.
“Catherine and I are very happy to be back in the United States and are extremely grateful to Governor Baker and the First Lady of Massachusetts for their warm welcome in Boston,” he said in an interview. Official statement posted on Twitter.
“On our first overseas visit since my grandmother’s d*ath, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and especially Boston for their tribute to the late Queen. She recalled with great fondness her bicentenary visit in 1976. My grandmother was one of life’s optimists. And me too. This is why we launched the Earthshot Prize last year with the goal of creating a truly global platform that will inspire hope and urgent optimism as we strive to save the future of our planet,” he wrote.
Thanks to the people of Boston. I am so grateful to you for allowing us to host the second year of the Earthshot Awards in your beautiful city. Katherine and I can’t wait to meet many of you in the coming days,” the Duke of Wales concluded his address to the people of Boston.
