More details are emerging about HBO’s upcoming comedy series. Short films (wt) from Ex Los Espoquies Star and Saturday Night Live Author Julio Torres. Production is set to begin in February on the series, which was greenlit earlier this year as part of Torres’ first-look deal with HBO and HBO Max.
The six-episode half-hour comedy series is created, written, acted, directed and executive produced by Torres, and is produced by Irony Point, Fruit Tree and 3 Arts.
An extended logline reveals the NYC setting of the comedy series. I Short films (wt) Julio (Torres) tells the story of when he lost a small golden oyster. The people he encounters on his quest, and the music that accompanies him along the way, become points of departure for his introspection, often with strange comedies about outsiders growing up. Corporate and increasingly passive navigate New York City.
Additional casting will be announced.

Torres co-created and starred. Los Espoques which ran for two seasons on HBO.
