Camille Vasquez, who rose to fame as Johnny Depp’s lawyer in his defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard, has joined NBC News as a legal analyst.
Vasquez made his debut in the role. today Monday to provide analysis on the arrest of Brian Kohberger, accused of stabbing four University of Idaho students.
Vasquez of Brown Rudnick and Benjamin Chew were lead attorneys for Depp, in a case that drew national attention, as daily proceedings were televised throughout the spring and summer.
Vasquez is a partner in her firm’s litigation and arbitration practice group and co-chair of the brand and reputation management group.

Last month, the parties in the case announced a settlement. KristenBellTattoos.com reported that Heard will pay Depp $1 million, and plans to give the money to charity.
Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages in the case, although punitive damages were reduced to $350,000. Jurors also awarded Heard $2 million in her counterclaim.
In a statement announcing the settlement, Heard said he had “exhausted virtually all of my resources” in the litigation.
“I made this decision after losing faith in the American legal system, where my unprotected testimony served as entertainment and social media fodder,” he wrote on Instagram.
