John Fetterman Mocks Dr. Oz With ‘Simpsons’ Parody; Disney Didn’t Authorize Character Usage

De Oh Pennsylvania’s no-holds-barred Senate race has gone all over Springfield, and Disney might not be too happy about it.

The election battle between Dr. Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman for the Keystone State’s vacant upper house seat has been as high-profile and down-the-ballot as any midterm contest in recent years. and now, The Simpsons Dr. Nick Rivera has joined the fray.

In a satirical spot released today, the Fetterman campaign has paired longtime TV host Dr. Oz with a permanent snake-oil quack from the Matt Groening animated satire. “Before Dr. Oz, there was Dr. Nick,” Fetterman’s Twitter feed announced Monday. “They say The Simpsons always predicts the future — and once again, they nailed it,” the ad text said. The results are both surprisingly similar and not pretty – as you can see below:

Disney did not respond to a request for comment on the new ad and its use of valuable IP. However, the use of The Simpsons‘ The characters, footage and music were not authorized by House of Mouse, insiders tell us. Typically, such a move results in a reminder from Disney to hit the pause button on the ad. Whether that happens here remains to be seen.

On the other side of things, neither the Fetterman campaign nor the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee responded to a request for comment. We’ll update this post if and when they or The Walt Disney Company get back to us.

About 80 seconds of Dr. Oz/Dr. Nick Mashup follows up on an article in the Washington Post earlier today that examines the questionable product claims, treatments and endorsement history of Donald Trump’s endorsement candidate.

“On his show, Dr. Oz welcomes open, honest conversations and opinions from all kinds of people,” Oz campaign spokeswoman Brittany Yannick told the Jeff Bezos-owned broadsheet for Monday’s segment. “It’s silly and ridiculous to imply that he shares the same beliefs and opinions as every guest on his show, or that having someone on his show is a complete endorsement of their beliefs,” Yannick said in a statement. added in response to high-level criticism. The GOP contender runs his own syndicated daytimer, co-produced by Oprah Winfrey, from 2009 to 2021.

So far, the media battles in the battle for the PA Senate seat have been won exclusively by Fetterman. Even when Fetterman took a break from campaigning due to a heart att*ck, Dr. Oz provided ready-made gaffes for Fetterman and his campaign’s immediate social media response.

Fetterman and many others cited Oz as a longtime resident of New Jersey – and home in many other states – having dual US-Turkish citizenship, being born in Ohio, but not owning a home in PA. What a merciless troll.

When Oz tried his hand at appropriating a popular entertainment franchise, Fetterman mocked Fetterman’s health-related timing. lost-style poster Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the show, reposted Oz’s tweet with the caption, “He had a stroke, Doc. And as we speak the Island is recovering. If you really see lostyou know not to quarrel with a bald man.”

The second time Oz tried to att*ck was his “crudet” advertisement which, in a state that prides itself on being the birthplace of the Yuengling, among the locals before Fetterman counteratt*cked.

Heading into voting day on Nov. 8, Fetterman has a slight lead over Oz in his bid to take over the seat from retiring Sen. Pete Toomey (R-PA). In the overall campaign for Democrats to maintain or increase their Senate majority, Pennsylvania could prove to be the lynchpin. Or to quote Dr. Nick in the voice of Hank Azaria, “Instead of making a sandwich with bread, use Pop-Tarts.”
