The film will be financed by eOne with the studio’s Jillian Scheer, Jane Gorton, and Chanel Vidal overseeing the production of the film with Scheer and Gorton executive producing. Macrofilm Studios’ Jilani Johnson and Poppy Hanks will serve as producers, and Charles D. King and James F. Lopez will serve as executive producers. Also executive producing are Too $hort and his manager David Weintraub, while Grammy-winning Oakland native Raphael Sadiq is overseeing the film’s music.
Set in Auckland in 1987, Weird stories This is a completely original, immersive film inspired by Ryan’s experience growing up in the Gulf. The film consists of four interconnected stories, each featuring distinct characters, real-life locations and notable historical events (some real, some imagined).
