James Gunn has confirmed that Adam Warlock is a “baby” in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 And “The Bad Guy”

In comics (according to Marvel fandom), Adam Warlock was created by a group of highly intelligent beings called the Enclave. Their goal was to create the ideal man, the pinnacle of human evolution. Eventually, the creature discovered that its creators had nefarious intentions and turned against its creators to join forces with humans. James Gunn met with Empire to discuss whether he would be a good guy or a bad guy in his debut film.

“Things are a little more complicated,” says James Gunn. Empire as Warlock’s goal of defeating the Guardians of the Galaxy rises. “But he is definitely not a good guy. What we see is the infant form of the Warlock, fresh out of the cocoon, and he doesn’t understand life very well. Basically, he’s a baby.” The complex nature of Adam Warlock in the film hints at the possibility that the golden-hued beings in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could be the MCU version of the Enclave, and the cocoon Warlock was created in could trigger a similar process. The plot is like in the comics.

Gunn then went on to explain why they chose Will Poulter to portray the character. “People on the internet were like, ‘Oh, Tom Cruise should be Adam Warlock,'” he said, but went in a different direction. “I wanted someone who was younger and I wanted someone who had dramatic features. and comedy chops not just for this movie, but for what Marvel will use Adam Warlock for in the future.” It sounds like Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to, and Adam Warlock’s character seems to be here for the long haul.
