Inside the “inseparable” friendship of Christine McGuinness and Chelsea Grimes – from luxury getaways to cheeky Instagram posts

Since their first meeting on ITV’s The Games, Christine McGuinness and Chelsea Grimes have been virtually inseparable.

Now, the couple has spent a lot of time together and have gone on not one, but three incredibly luxurious vacations over the course of several months.

They also spoke highly of each other in the media, with 34-year-old Christina once saying that her friend is her “sister in spirit.”

And over the weekend, the two seemed to solidify their BFF status when they were spotted kissing sweetly in Winter Wonderland.

Here we take a look at their “inseparable” friendship since Kristin announced her separation from husband Paddy, 49, after 15 years of marriage.

First meeting

Kristin and Chelsea, 30, first met in April while participating in the TV show The Games, where celebrities battle it out in Olympic competition.

Chelsea emerged victorious with Wes Nelson, with Christine finishing ninth.

Speaking to Fabulous about the Grammy-nominated performer, Christine said, “Chelsea is my soul sister. Just right away, from the day I met her, I just fell in love with her.

“She is funny. And honestly, it was just the best time on the show.”

However, during the filming of The Games, rumors began to circulate about the status of Christine and Paddy’s marriage.

There were rumors that the TV presenter cheated on his model wife, whom he was married to for 11 years.

It was reported that the team behind The Games knew that Paddy had kissed the TV star a year earlier.

According to the source, “Some of them told her about the kiss and how he was unfaithful. She was very offended and upset.”

Eyebrows were raised even more when Paddy was noticeably absent during Christina’s time in the spotlight.

In response to their marital problems, she told Carol Woderman in Lorraine, “It won’t always go smoothly, but we’re trying to work things out as privately as possible.”

But a week later, they announced they were ending their marriage, which produced three children — twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and Felicity, five.

In a joint statement, they shared that they still live “happily” together in their family home and have dedicated themselves to being the best parents for their children.

Singer-songwriter Chelsea was reported to have been a huge support to Kristin after the split.

In June, Chelsea and Kristin flew to Croatia for a bachelorette party and shared a series of vacation snaps.

Posting the photos on Instagram, the model wrote: “I followed my heart and it led me to Croatia. Memories for a lifetime, I’m very lucky, so lucky.

“I laughed so much, relaxed and blacked out like never before!”

The pair were spotted with other friends at dinner, soaking up Kristen Bell Tattoos and showing off their tan.

In September they flew away again, this time to Santorini, where they were joined by other friends.

When she returned to the UK, Kristin posted a snap with the caption: “69 hours in Santorini. Siestas and Sunsets is what I needed. Calm. Tested. Happy. Healthy. Blessed.”

And at the end of October, they escaped the autumn blues and went to Crete on another girl’s trip.

They stayed at Stella Luxury Resort & Spa and once again took to social media to give fans a glimpse of their vacation.

The adults-only luxury resort is known for its giant lagoon-style pool, five-star restaurants, and incredible spa located next to a private beach.

Staying in the resort’s exclusive bungalows, which include a Jacuzzi and a steam room, costs £2,500 per week.

After the vacation, a source told Kristen Bell Tattoos: “Christina and Chelsea hit it off right away and love spending time with each other.

“They enjoyed another sun-filled vacation together, but also hung out a lot.”

Kristin also enjoyed spending time with her friend’s Chihuahua, Santiago.

Chelsea romances

In a 2019 interview, Chelsea, who has been playing for Liverpool Ladies since she was 10, told Gay Times that she came out as bis*xual.

However, she told Pink News last year that she now considers herself a lesbian.

She said, “Seeing that I, as a mixed-race woman of color and lesbian, have not one career, but many careers, I hope this sparks someone else so they can do it too.”

In August 2019, she began an affair with 28-year-old Megan Barton Hanson, who was a contestant on Love Island 2018.

They went public with their relationship the following month after Chelsea was seen comforting her when she got emotional at a party.

But their romance was short-lived – they broke up in October, when it turned out that they both corresponded with the same woman.

At the time, a source said that Meghan and Chelsea had a major argument over the situation after Teddy tweeted about it and eventually decided to end the relationship.

However, in November, they got back together, and in January 2020 they even went on a romantic vacation to the Maldives.

After yet another split and reconciliation, they finally ended their relationship for good, with Meghan continuing her rocky relationship with TOWIE star James Locke.

Last August Chelsea decided to move from London back to Liverpool and said OK! how happy she was.

“In my twenties, I might have stayed in a relationship. I was lonely in London – it’s true.
