In the wake of his popularity as a hit producer, Combs released his debut studio album No Way Out in July 1997.

The record spawned the hit singles I’ll Be Missing You, It’s All About the Benjamins and the number one Billboard Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down.

The Puff Daddy era ended with his second album, Forever, and the end of his high-profile relationship with Jennifer Lopez.

The artist formerly known as P Diddy has revealed that he is changing his stage name again.

He told the owners: “No one knew what to call me. I noticed that people were uncomfortable when I met them for the first time, and then they asked me what they should call me.

“I even started to get confused myself, and when I called someone on the phone, it took me a long time to explain who I was. Too long”.

The mogul added, “I felt like P was coming between me and my fans. We had to simplify it.

“These were concerts and half the crowd was saying “P Diddy” and half were chanting Diddy.

“Now everyone can just chant ‘Diddy’. One word. Five letters. Dot”.

Love

In November 2017, Diddy announced that he was changing his public persona again.

In a recently deleted Instagram post, he stated: “I have been praying for this and I know it is risky because some people may find it trite, but I have decided to change my name again.

“I’m just not who I used to be. I’m different. So my new name is Love, she is also Brother Love.

“I will not respond to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or any of my other nicknames other than Love or Brother Love.”

However, this was followed by another announcement.

In May 2022, he sat down with Ellen DeGeneres and told the audience, “I feel like it’s really important to get this clear.

“I decided I would just take the name Diddy. You see, Diddy is my nickname. Love is my real name.”

He clarified to viewers that while he officially changed his real name to Sean Love Combs, he changed his mind and changed his stage name back to Diddy.
