Janelle and Cody married spiritually in 1993, three years after he entered into a legal marriage. Mary Brown.
“Before Cody and I really started courting, I was really friends with his family,” Janelle said during a 2013 episode of TLC. “My mother was worried that I would be drawn into some kind of polygamous cult. But she ended up meeting Cody’s dad, they fell in love and got married before Cody and I started courting.”
Since Janelle, who did not grow up in a polygamous family, entered into a polygamous marriage with Cody, they had six children. The couple have sons Logan (born 1994), Hunter (born 1997), Robert Garrison (born 1998) and Gabriel “Gabe” (born 2001), and daughters Madison “Maddie “(born 1995) and Savana. (born 2004).
The Wyoming native also entered into a spiritual marriage with Christine Brown in 1994 before they announced their divorce in November 2021. Cody divorced Mary in September 2014 to legally marry his fourth wife. Robin Brown, and adopt her three children from previous relationships. (Cody and Mary remain in spiritual union, and the businessman and his partners have 18 children in total.)
“Of course I’m still jealous,” Janelle said. Us weekly exclusively in March 2021 from their family’s lifestyle. “But I learned a long time ago [that] you just need to figure out how to be okay with yourself. You have strengths, you have blessings, and you have opportunities that have been given to you… you cannot compare. I just think comparison is the d*ath of polygamy.”
Through the ups and downs of polygamy, the founder of Life With Health & Happiness and Cody have remained proud supporters of their six children.

While Janelle enjoys visiting her adult children and grandchildren, Cody has had a strained relationship with sons Gabe and Garrison.
“[We’re] not good. I don’t talk,” the TLC patriarch admitted during an episode in February 2022. Sister Wives: One on One. “It’s like one of those relationships where we have a lot of work to do.”
Cody gave his sons an ultimatum about their social lives as the family went into strict quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. “They have to understand that they have to go and date this girl, that’s fine, but you need to move out of the house so I can be at home,” he added.
