‘Eternal’ star Gemma Chan sheds light on anti-Asian hate activism – SheKnows

The Rise of Anti-Asian Hate

With the recent increase in anti-Asian attacks, Chan was inspired by the work Tran’s organization is doing to help provide aid to the Asian community. During the pandemic, Tran, a medical student in NYC, witnessed rising anti-Asian incidents and started Soar Over Hate with her young mentor. Together, they seek to “empower the next generation of AAPI leaders with a college scholarship fund and free therapy designed to promote healing from racial trauma.” In addition to her medical career, Tran says, “As the L’Oreal Paris Woman of Worth, I hope to demonstrate that love is more powerful than hate, and that healing can prevail even in the most difficult of circumstances. “

Chan admitted to us that when he and his parents went to crazy rich asian Premier, they cried. It was overwhelming to see not only her daughter on screen, but Asian people represented in the film, she says, adding, “You don’t realize what you’re missing until you see it.” To which the Asian actors inspired Chan, she quickly replies, “Lucy Liu (and) Sandra Oh!” In fact, she met Lucy Liu at a Comic Con, and well, let’s just say Gemma Chan is all of us. Chan also revealed what he loved working on Eternal With director Chloe Zhao and co-stars Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek. Although he was working all the time and didn’t have much time to socialize, Chan is surprised by his female co-stars, whom he describes as “strong, outspoken and funny”. She loves what both Angelina and Salma have, and not just professionally. “Salma is a bear mom,” she says. And as far as Angelina is concerned, Chan claims she’s actually pretty good at throwing something. Probably the best – but you’ll have to watch the video to find out what.
