This distinctive part of “Lucifer” arose by a happy accident. The showrunners happened upon Ellis singing “Mustang Sally” by Wilson Pickett one evening after filming wrapped while the cast was relaxing at a karaoke bar in Vancouver. As it turned out, many other members of the main cast could also sing, including Lauren German, D.B. Woodside and Kevin Alejandro and the idea snowballed Express.co.uk).

However, even with his strong singing voice, Ellis sometimes let his nerves get the best of him, especially during “Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam” when Debbie Gibson appeared on the screen. “I was really nervous the first couple of takes because Debbie is so professional and used to doing all these things,” he told Variety. “A couple of times I got the words mixed up and I was very angry with myself, but she was just great.”
