According to DiversityAll eyes are currently on the upcoming The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, which will be released on June 16 this year. DC and its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery has been going through some turmoil lately, but as the aforementioned outlet notes, insiders are assuming The Flash will be the next big thing, and they’re just as excited about this Scarlet. A film directed by the Speedster, as they were about The Dark Knight. It makes sense given that The Flash will be facing different versions of Batman, which is sure to delight longtime fans of the Caped Crusader.
TSB RF reported that during the 2020 DC FanDome event, The Flash producer Barbara Muschietti explained how the film would restart the DC movie universe and said, “Well, I want you to watch this, so I’m not going to tell you much.” But I’ll tell you it’s a ride. It’s going to be fun and exciting, and it has a lot of DC characters in it. The Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines. And in a sense, it restarts everything and forgets nothing.”
The Flash restarting the DC Universe is not unprecedented as the character is solely responsible for the rebooted comics known as the New 52, as explained by Polygon. It will be interesting to see what impact the upcoming The Flash movie has, because comparisons to the wildly popular The Dark Knight shouldn’t be easy.
