Walter White wants you. Name it.
“It” is a snack food called popcorn, and Bryan Cranston is reviving his classic. Breaking Bad character for his Super Bowl ad next month. Check out his Instagram post below.
The promo photo shows Cranston in character holding a bag of white cheddar-flavored popcorn, because of course that’s what Heisenberg — er, Walter White — would be pushing. The Frito-lay product description says it’s “never fried,” which apparently means WW won’t have to cook this time.
Cranston won four Emmys for playing a cancer-ridden high school chem teacher turned math master chef. breaking bad, which aired on AMC from 2008-13. It was a 62-episode acting tour de force that helped make the series one of the most acclaimed dramas in TV history. He revived the role last year as well. BB Jesse Pinkman, co-star of Aaron Paul, for the final season pairing of his prequel series better Call Saulstarring Bob Odenkirk.
Popcorners did not reveal any other details about the commercial, which is praised as having a “flavorful crunch and healthy ingredients.” Of course, the components and their proper placement were the same after Walter White’s breakdown. And we’re assuming the blue bag is just a coincidence, but Breaking Bad Fans will recognize the potential, if coincidental, significance of this particular color.
Frito-Lay did not disclose when the ad will run during the Big Game, which airs Sunday, Feb. 12 on Fox. But he clearly indicated that from other characters Breaking Bad The universe may be up. As do advertisers.
