Bree Harrison of The Gold Rush called the lack of downtime her least favorite part of her career as a miner

At Reddit AMAs, and / 17217 asked Bree Harrison what she dislikes about her job, and she cited the lack of downtime. “I would love to work 12-hour days if there were more hours in the day,” Harrison replied. “I don’t like that after work there is no time to do anything else but eat dinner and go to bed. You can get so many nights of less than 6 hours of sleep before it starts to affect you badly.” So it would seem that the crew has little time to even get some sleep at the end of the day before they have to turn around and head back to the mining site. However, Harrison does have some time for herself, albeit not much.

In a 2020 AMA thread on the r/goldrush subreddit, Harrison was asked what she does in her free time, and her answer is not surprising given her portrayal on the show. She said: “I hike, I go kayaking, I work my truck, I travel with my dogs.” It would also seem that most of the crew’s personal time falls on the off-season. In another AMA thread, this time with Harrison’s boss. Parker Schnabel, Schnabel was asked what he does in his free time, and he told how he likes to travel to London and hang out with the crew while they edit the show. So apparently, as hectic as the mining season is, the off-season could be a little more relaxed.
