Honorable Members of Parliament,

It has been four months since the protests started in Iran after Mehsa Amini’s death. The Iranian people are bravely resisting the harsh laws imposed on them by the Islamic Republic of Iran and want an end to decades of oppression.

In response, Iranian authorities have launched a brutal and violent crackdown on the protests. More than 500 people, including at least 70 children, have been killed (reported figures), and around 19,000 people have now been arrested and jailed. Many prisoners are being tortured, and kangaroo courts are hastily executing many – many of these prisoners have been tragically executed over the past month. Just a few days ago, Mohammad Mahdi Karami and Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini were executed despite international calls to overturn their death sentences – in Karmi’s case, he was not even allowed to meet his family one last time.

And some of the imprisoned protesters are fellow artists and creators such as actor Hossein Mohammadi (currently on death row) and rap artist Tamaj Salehi (allegedly in poor physical condition due to repeated torture). Just to name a few.
