The premise of the reboot, aptly named It’s a 90’s showfollows Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti’s daughter, Leah, played by Callie Haverdawho visits her grandparents in the summer at the house where her father grew up. Topher Grace and Laura Prepon played Eric and Donna respectively in the original series which aired for eight seasons from 1999 to 2006.
The Netflix spin-off was first announced in October 2021. Then it was announced that Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp were to reprise their roles as Eric’s parents, Red and Kitty Foreman, respectively.

Kurtwood Smith (Red Foreman)
Smith was one of the first actors to be announced as returning for the spin-off. Robocop the star reprises his role as Eric’s father, Red, who is one of the main characters in the new series.
In the January 2023 trailer, Red remains the grumpy curmudgeon he was in the original series. He asks his wife why she reopened the house after “all the assholes are gone”. There is also a reference to his iconic line “my foot in your ass”.

Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Foreman)
Along with Smith, Rupp’s involvement in the project was immediately revealed. Large The actress reprized her role as Eric’s mom, Kitty, and is also the main protagonist of the Netflix show.

While Grace is reprising his iconic role from the original series, he revealed in September 2022 that he would only appear in the “first episode” but enjoyed seeing his old castmates.
“It was really like Christmas. It’s a gift,” he said. Entertainment tonight while. “They are all such wonderful, amazing people who have had such an impact on my life and who I have become. To be able to come back and not just hang out with them, which was so much fun, but then be able to work with them again… it was great.”

In addition to reprising her role as Donna, Prepon also directed an episode of the Netflix series.

After announcing his participation in the new series, Kutcher reflected on how he feels about “going back to the basement.”

For a brief moment, Kutcher appears in the trailer along with his wife.

Ahead of the premiere of the series, Kunis spoke about working with Kutcher, whom she met on the set. It’s a 70’s show. Their characters were romantically involved throughout the series before the couple tied the knot in real life.
“My husband and I are in it together. Which is weird because we weren’t supposed to be, my character would be with Fez.” Black Swan the actress said Access to Hollywood in September 2022. “Besides, Kelso got married at the end It’s a 70’s show. Now we are married with a child [on the show]. It’s very sweet.” (In real life, they share a daughter, Wyatt, and a son, Dimitri.)

In the trailer for It’s a 90’s showStark, who played Bob Pinciotti, Donna’s father, made his first appearance. A clip from January 2023 confirmed his return to the show.

Tommy Chong (Leo Chingquake)
Chong revealed that he would return to the show in May 2022.
“They never gave me instructions, so I don’t know if I should say something or not,” he said, appearing on The Dave Mark Show. “I really don’t hesitate to tell you the truth. That’s what I’m known for… I’m back as Leo.”
For a brief second in the trailer for the series, Leo appears outside Foreman’s house.
